NOTICE OF FDOT PROJECT: MM 70 TO MM 80 WITH LANE CLOSURES

Florida Department of Transportation Project Started October 24, 2022 through October 31, 2022

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began a roadway project the week of October 24, 2022, along Overseas Highway in Monroe County  from
MM 70 to 80.

Lane closures continue between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
Where the northbound and southbound lanes of SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway between MM 76.0 and MM 77.5, will be periodically closed for roadway paving. These lane closures will not occur simultaneously but will be closed in one direction at a time. Flaggers will be on-site directing traffic through the work zone. Drivers might experience delays traveling through the area and should seek alternate routes if possible. 


WORK TO BE PERFORMED
Repaving and restriping the roadway and shoulders
Raising the roadway and shoulders from approximately MM 73.8 to MM 76.0
Improving drainage
Tying new roadway into the shoreline protection system along Sea Oats Beach and adding a guardrail system
Upgrading roadway signage
Upgrading bicycle features at the shared-use path crossing locations
Upgrading thermoplastic pavement markings from MM 70.0 to MM 80.0

Est. Completion: Summer 2023
 
Construction Cost: $18.1 Million
