CONTINUING WEEK OF OCTOBER 26: LANE SHIFT ON US1 AT MILE MARKER 87. POSSIBLE TRAFFIC SLOWDOWNS.

Lane shift on US1 at Mile Marker 87, 8AM to 4PM daily beginning Thursday, October 15

DUE TO WEATHER DELAYS, WORK WILL CONTINUE THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 26.

The southbound lane of US 1 will be diverted to the center turn lane near the entrance to Founders Park at Mile Marker 87 in Islamorada. The lane shift will continue on weekdays for approximately one week. Due to weather delays, the lane shift will continue the week of October 26.

Lanes will remain open for northbound and southbound traffic throughout the lane shift. Significant delays are not foreseen, but some traffic slowdown can be expected. Please exercise caution while driving on US 1 near Mile Marker 87.

UPDATE: Motorists exiting Founders Park must make a right turn onto US1. For safety, there will be no left turn out of the park during the lane shift.

The lane shift is necessary to allow the Florida Keys Electric Coop (FKEC) utility relocations to be completed as part of the pedestrian bridge project.
