MISSION
The Village Attorney’s Office is committed to providing the highest quality of legal representation possible in an efficient and effective manner to meet the present and future needs of Islamorada, Village of Islands.
FUNCTION
The Village Attorney is appointed by the Village Council and serves as the chief legal advisor to the Village Council, the Village Manager, as well as all Village departments and committees. The Village Attorney does not work for the individual residents of Islamorada, Village of Islands.
The Village Attorney offers legal opinions regarding interpretation of the Village Code of Ordinances and Florida Statutes, represents the Village in any litigation, prepares and/or reviews all contracts and agreements and assists in the development and drafting of ordinances and resolutions. The Village Attorney provides legal guidance to the Village in the areas of labor and personnel matters, real estate and real estate related matters, land use and zoning, legislation and related matters, code compliance, sunshine laws, public records laws, conflict of interest issues and other ethical issues.
