Village offices will re-open to the public with restrictions on Monday, June 22, 2020.  We will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm and Friday from 9 am to 12 pm.  Masks are required at all times while in the building. A maximum of three (3) persons will be allowed in all lobbies. The 1st floor lobby will be staffed to maintain occupancy in the building.

Drop box procedures for new submittals, resubmittals, payments and pick up will remain in effect and will be processed the next business day after drop-off. Drop box will be located in 1st floor lobby. Transmittal sheet and log to be completed prior to entering lobby for drop-off.

In-person meetings may be conducted at the approval of all staff involved. Requests for such meetings are to be approved by the Department Head and proper accommodations will be made. Virtual/Zoom meetings are preferred.

The Planning and Development Services Department, under the authority and policy direction of the Village Council, is responsible for administering the Village’s land use plan including the provision of comprehensive planning and assisting in the permit processing services. The department is responsible for developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with the Village’s Comprehensive Plan and land use ordinances and regulations, reviewing and processing of development permits, carrying out long-range planning projects, and providing oversight and protection of the Village’s environmental resources.

The department prepares data and analysis pertaining to land use for use by the public and other agencies. The department’s GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and graphics capabilities support the department's decision making, enhance the community's public participation process, and provide services to the residents of Islamorada through strategic planning, data analysis and map preparation, and the pursuit of grants.

The department provides information and assistance to the public and property owners. The department emphasizes public participation by employing various techniques including meetings with individuals and groups, facilitating workshops and conducting formal public hearings. Outreach to the public is accomplished through mailings, press releases and advertising.

NEW JUNE 2019: Islamorada, Village of Islands is pleased to provide the web app version of our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) map for public use. The interactive map allows residents, visitors, and Village employees to search by Address, Owner Name, AK and Parcel number. Tools available for use include interactive layers, distance measurement, area calculator, and the ability to print/export a custom map.

Current layers included on the map: 

    • Zoning
    • Future Land Use Map (FLUM)
    • Parcels
    • Habitat
    • Turtle Beaches

The application has been tested to work with the current versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome.

Please be aware that when searching under Owner Name only one property owner will appear.
