Fall 2020 Programs and Activities at Founders Park

Nature Walks: BEGINNING OCTOBER - The goal of this series is to increase knowledge of the flora and fauna of the Florida Keys and Everglades National Park by sharing with the community through Nature Walks; also promoting responsible stewardship of our natural resources. These walks involve a brief discussion on the history of the Upper Keys, as well as plant, butterfly, and bird traits. Nature Walks are offered twice a month on Tuesdays from 8:30am-10:00am. Bird ID Classes: BEGINNING OCTOBER - Enjoy a leisurely walk in the park and bird watching with Bob Showler! Class will begin with a short introduction on birds of the Islamorada area, followed by identification and discussing traits and habits of the birds that are observed. Classes are offered twice a month from 8:00am-9:30am. Visit to view schedule. Facial covering required. Plantation Key Fitness Program: BEGINNING OCTOBER 1ST – Get your fitness on with Instructors Heather Head and Patricia Marritt! Classes include Beach Zumba, Beach Yoga, Beach Body Blast, Gentle Beach Yoga, Chair Yoga Dance, and COMING SOON – Intro to SUP Yoga! Visit the Park Office or for the full schedule of classes! AquaFit Water Aerobics: BEGINNING OCTOBER 1ST - Join Certified Aqua Fitness Instructors Ken Schryver and Paula Friedman for a fun filled class that includes Cardio, Strength Training, Stretching, Balance & Equilibrium, Increased Stamina, Muscular Endurance, and Improved Range of Motion. Classes are offered Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9:30am-10:30am. 25 participants maximum due to social distancing requirements. First come, first “splashed! Synchro Sirens Synchronized Swim Club: A multidisciplinary program that is designed to help young athletes develop into competing synchronized swimmers. Practices are held at the Ron Levy Aquatic Center on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30pm-6:00pm, and Saturdays from 8:30am-11:30am. Contact Coach Isla Crawford at 856-473-4752 for more information.

Springboard Diving Lessons: Students develop strength, flexibility, and confidence, while learning how to dive from springboards in safe progressions and a fun environment! Lessons are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30pm-6pm, and Saturdays 9am-11am. Contact Coach Kelly Kater at 215-622-6841 for more information.

Masters Adult Swim Club: Open to ages 18-80 plus, from beginners who want to increase their health and fitness levels, to triathletes and competitive swimmers in both pool and open water! Spooktacular Snapshot Halloween Photo Contest: For Upper Keys Residents. Photo categories are “Howl-o-ween Pets”, “Pumpkin Patch – Your best pumpkin carving” and “Best Costume”. Send your family-friendly Halloween photos to Photos will be posted on the Islamorada, Village of Islands Facebook page, and the photos with the most likes per category wins!
