Mayor and Vice Mayor Elected at December 7th Village Council Meeting

 Employees Acknowledged for Years of Service

At the December 7, 2017 Village Council Meeting, the Village Council unanimously elected Councilman Chris Sante to serve as Mayor of Islamorada for the next year. In the largely ceremonial position, Mayor Sante will chair all meetings of the Village Council and represent the Village at events locally, throughout the State of Florida and in Washington D.C.  This will be Mayor Sante's fourth term filling the role of Islamorada's Mayor; he was previously elected Mayor three times during his previous tenure on the Village Council from 2002 to 2008.

Councilwoman Deb Gillis was unanimously elected to serve as Vice Mayor for the upcoming year. Vice Mayor Gills served a term as Mayor and a term as Vice Mayor during her years on the Village Council.

Also at the December 7th meeting, five employees were acknowledged for five and ten years of service to the Village. Acknowledged for five years of service were Senior Accountant Deb Guenther, Roadways Maintenance Worker Rogelio Leyva and Environmental Resources Manager Susan Sprunt. Acknowledged for ten years of service were Village Clerk Kelly Toth and Assistant Dockmaster Tom Sheahan.
