FOUNDERS PARK REOPENED SUNDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2017
THE POOL IS REPAIRED AND REOPENED THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14th
golf driving range and soccer field remain closed until repairs are completed
Islamorada Founders Park reopened on Sunday, December 3rd after an almost three-month closure. The Village is happy to welcome back residents that have been eager to take their dogs to the dog park for a leash-free run and families that have been waiting to return for a relaxing day at the beach.
Pool repairs are complete! The Ron Levy Aquatic Center reopened on Thursday, December 14th.
The facilities that remain closed are the golf driving range and the soccer/multi-use field. All other Founders Park recreational areas will be open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to come back to Founders Park and enjoy the beach, volleyball court, picnic areas, playgrounds, fitness/walking trails, tennis courts, basketball court, dog park, outdoor fitness park with the pickleball court. Founders Park hours are sunrise to sunset.
The netting for the golf driving range requires replacement and the soccer field will need to be rehabilitated prior to opening for use. These facilities will be reopened as soon as possible.
Founders Park, located on the bayside at 87000 Overseas Highway, closed on September 6th, the day mandatory evacuation began in advance of Hurricane Irma. After the storm, the park remained closed for repairs and hurricane debris management activities.
Entertainment and community events normally held at Founders Park will also resume.
