FINAL PICKUP OF HURRICANE DEBRIS
MONDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2017
All Plantation Key property owners are given notice that the final collection of hurricane debris will occur on Monday, October 23, 2017. Plantation Key property owners must place all hurricane debris in the right-of-way by the evening of Sunday, October 22nd to have it removed as part of the hurricane debris collection. After that date, Plantation Key residents will need to make individual arrangements for the removal of all materials not collected as part of the hurricane debris removal.
Plantation Key properties have had multiple pickups of hurricane debris since the removal since activities began on September 16th and will be the first area completed. The Village and its debris removal contractor will determine suitable dates for the final passes for hurricane debris removal from all neighborhoods in Islamorada. At least one pickup has been completed from all Islamorada roadways.
Hurricane debris will continue to be collected from Windley Key, Upper Matecumbe Key and Lower Matecumbe Key. Notices of final pickups for each area will be released when dates are determined. Property owners in all areas of Islamorada should be completing final efforts to pile all storm debris to the right-of-way.
REMINDER: DIRECTIONS FOR DEBRIS PLACEMENT:
Debris will not be picked up from private property, must be placed on the right-of way.
DO NOT pile debris on manhole covers, fire hydrants, etc.
Do not bag debris - debris in bags will not be picked up.
Debris must be separated into three separate piles:
1. Vegetative debris such as trees, limbs and other plant debris
2. Construction & Demolition debris such as doors, drywall, wood from docks and furniture/furnishings.
3. White goods - such as household appliances.
