Appointment Planned for January 23, 2020 Village Council Meeting

Islamorada Village Council Seat 2 is vacant following the resignation of Councilwoman Cheryl Meads on January 6, 2020. Per the Village Charter, Council has 30 days to appoint a qualified resident to fill the vacant seat. At the January 9 Regular Village Council Meeting, Council invited qualified residents interested in filling the vacant seat to submit letters of interest by Thursday, January 16, 2020.

Council plans to discuss the list of applicants at the Regular Village Council Meeting on Thursday, January 23, 2020 and vote to appoint the new Council Member. The new member can be sworn in immediately and would serve as a Village Council Member until the November 2020 General Election.

To be eligible, a person must be a registered voter in the State of Florida and a resident of the Village. People interested in being considered for the Village Council seat are asked to submit a letter of interest to include why you are interested and how you are qualified to serve on the Village Council.

Letter of interest can be submitted to Village Clerk Kelly Toth at by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2020. Letters may also be hand-delivered to the 3rd floor of the Administrative Center at 86800 Overseas Highway. The letters will be disseminated to all Village Council Members and a list will be compiled for Council consideration at the January 23, 2020 Regular Village Council Meeting.
