As the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season begins, everyone should take advantage of resources available online, in newspapers and local television stations regarding preparations for Hurricane Season. Now is the time to make sure your disaster plan, family communication plan and emergency supply kits are up-to-date for the hurricane season.
When Islamorada's Emergency Management Team begins to prepare for a storm, we also begin to provide local updates for residents and business owners. As part of your emergency preparations, take advantage of the resources provided by Islamorada:
- Sign up for Islamorada Village News to receive all notifications or sign up for Islamorada Emergency Alerts to receive emails only during emergency conditions. The emails provide information regarding local emergency management actions before, during and after a hurricane.
- Follow us on Facebook for local emergency briefs.
- Continue to visit the Latest News section on the homepage of the Village website (this page) for full updates and emergency actions before, during and after a hurricane.
- Visit Islamorada's Hurricane Preparedness page to find resources for all aspects of preparing for Hurricane Season and the locations to get re-entry windshield stickers.
Now is also the time for residents who need assistance during evacuations because of physical and mental handicaps to sign up for the Monroe County Special Needs Registry. Please don't wait until a storm is approaching to find out whether you are eligible assistance during evacuations and sheltering through the Special Needs Registry.
