FOUNDERS PARK FEES WAIVED

TEMPORARY WAIVER OF ENTRANCE FEE FOR TAVERNIER RESIDENTS

PERMANENT WAIVER FOR DISABLED VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Due to the temporary closure of Harry Harris Park in Tavernier, at its January meeting the Village Council discussed waiving Founders Park entrance fees for Monroe County residents in the 33070 zip code. The Islamorada Parks and Recreation Citizens’ Advisory Committee discussed the topic at a special call meeting at the end of January and recommended the fee waiver be approved.

Founders Park Entrance Fees will be waived for the next 90 days for Tavernier residents showing a valid Driver’s License with a 33070 zip code. Entrance to the Ron Levy Aquatic Center will be collected at the standard $2-$3 rate that applies to Islamorada residents. The fee waiver for residents of the 33070 zip code could be extended beyond 90 days if the program goes smoothly and Harry Harris Park has not yet reopened.

In appreciation for their sacrifice and service to the county, the Parks and Recreation Committee and the Village Council approved a permanent waiver of entrance fees to Founders Park and the Aquatic Center for Disabled U.S. Military Veterans and Active Duty Personnel along with their immediate family members.

Founders Park, located at 87000 Overseas Highway in Islamorada, is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The Ron Levy Aquatic Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
