IT & Communications Assistant
Islamorada, Village of Islands, seeks an IT & Communications Assistant in its IT & Communications Department. This is a salaried position that reports to the IT & Communications Manager. The IT & Communications Department is overseen by the Finance Director / Deputy Village Manager.
Responsibilities: Set-up of the Community Center into a full Council Chambers requiring heavy lifting and audio/video set-up of required equipment. Produce live video broadcasts of public meetings via cablevision and web streaming. Prepare DVD archiving and finalize recordings of meetings. Breakdown the Council Chambers when meetings are over.
Assist the IT & Communications Manager with general computer maintenance, hardware repairs, software installs, and staff training on general use of computer equipment. Support, design, maintain and monitor internal and external networks. Implement and manage all systems, applications, security and network configurations including maintenance of server component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. Manage vendors and promote a collaborative relationship with the Village’s IT support contractor. Ensure that the IT support contractor is being utilized to the extent covered by the continuing service agreement.
Required Experience: Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and being on-call. Experience with MS Active Directory, MS Group Policy, MS Exchange, desktop management software, MS Internet Information Service, PBX and/or VOIP telephony system, Ethernet switches, virtual server environments, fiber channel communication, enterprise backup solutions and Firewall technology. Proficiency in the operation of personal computers; hardware and software applications including MS Office products; Microsoft Operating Systems and SQL; knowledge of Ethernet and Fiber Optics preferred. Demonstrated listening, verbal and written communication skills; accurately prepare all types of business correspondence, design and produce reports; ability to analyze and interpret job related business periodicals and technical manuals and assist in the preparation of training manuals. Effective planning and organizational skills with excellent documentation and detail orientation; ability to complete assignments and meet deadlines and work independently and in a team environment. Valid Florida driver’s license required.

Full Time Lifeguard
Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing a variety of water safety services for pool patrons and bathers using the pool facility. The work involves prompt performance of emergency lifesaving and first aid tasks as occasions require, and care and maintenance of all equipment, pool deck, swimming pool and locker room facilities. Work is performed under direct supervision of the Parks Program Manager.
Position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification including First Aid, CPR for Professional Rescuer, and Water Safety Instructor Certificate or equivalent and a valid Florida Driver’s License. Previous experience at a pool or beach facility preferred. Evening and weekend hours required.

Part Time Facility Attendant/ Park Attendant
This is a general position in Founders Park. Responsibilities include collection of park fees, general non-maintenance care of park facilities, supervision of patrons using park facilities and enforcement of rules and regulations. Provides customer service to Park patrons and visitors.
Must be at least sixteen years of age. Must be able to comprehend written/verbal instruction. Must be able to communicate with the general public. Monitor park facilities and enforce rules and regulations. Cleans buildings and restroom facilities. General preparation of athletic fields for games, activities, and special events.
May assist in the collection of garbage, litter, and or trash from park grounds. Position requires evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Collection of fees at various park and recreation facilities including IFP entrance gate. Assist departmental staff with special events, activities, and/or programs. Greets patrons, provides information, answers telephones, and performs simple clerical duties. Assist the public in completion of registration forms, memberships, and permits. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Full Time Litter Removal
This position requires constant outside work, involving the removal of bagged litter, loose litter and debris along all roadways. Additional duties include maintaining and monitoring the multipurpose trail throughout the Village. Must be self-motivated and detail oriented. Work will be performed under general supervision except in situations where the assignments are routine in nature or there are standard designated procedures. Such work performance is evaluated through observation of result obtained and while work is in progress. Position requires use of Village vehicles and equipment in performance of duties.

- Routinely removes loose and bagged litter and debris in all right-of-ways and parks throughout the Village
- Routinely clears and/or removes gravel, soil and other debris from the multipurpose trails throughout the Village with manual and automatic tools
- Routinely clears and/or removes gravel, soil and other debris from all storm water inlets and drains.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Safely operates light trucks, utility vehicles and other related types of equipment
- Performs daily safety inspections of assigned equipment prior to and after use
- Properly maintains and washes assigned equipment weekly
- Prepares and maintains records and reports as required
Requirements for Position:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Valid Florida Driver’s License
Routinely lifting 75 pounds
Continuous outside work, in sometimes adverse weather conditions
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Nature of job requires physical strength, agility, coordination and dexterity
This position works Friday through Monday and requires work on the weekends.
Seasonal/Part Time Lifeguards
Lifeguarding is a dynamic, challenging & rewarding job! Lifeguards are responsible for patron safety in & out of the pool and provide high quality customer service to the public at the Ron Levy Aquatic Center. Position also involves light maintenance duties and maintaining the pool chemistry.
