Part Time Facility Attendant
This is a general position in Founders Park. Responsibilities include collection of park fees, general non-maintenance care of park facilities, supervision of patrons using park facilities and enforcement of rules and regulations. Provides customer service to Park patrons and visitors.
Must be at least sixteen years of age. Must be able to comprehend written/verbal instruction. Must be able to communicate with the general public. Monitor park facilities and enforce rules and regulations. Cleans buildings and restroom facilities. General preparation of athletic fields for games, activities, and special events.
May assist in the collection of garbage, litter, and or trash from park grounds. Position requires evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Collection of fees at various park and recreation facilities including IFP entrance gate. Assist departmental staff with special events, activities, and/or programs. Greets patrons, provides information, answers telephones, and performs simple clerical duties. Assist the public in completion of registration forms, memberships, and permits. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Environmental Coordinator II
Processes and evaluates building and planning applications which require review of their potential environmental impacts. Assess the value of biological systems, identifies potential impacts which result from construction projects of various types, and determines appropriate regulatory permit and/or regulatory action. These evaluations are conducted in compliance with Islamorada, Village of Islands Land Development Regulations (LDRs) and the Comprehensive Plan. Evaluates permit and development applications for tree removal, land clearing, landscaping requirements, vegetation surveys, habitat analysis, transplantation restoration standards, and benthic surveys. Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Snorkel as required.
Conduct compliance inspections on issued permits and unpermitted or unauthorized activities. Coordinates with code enforcement officers to assist in determining enforcement actions and remediation of enforcement actions on regulatory activities that are in violation of appropriate regulations. Problem solving involves identification and analysis diverse issues. Supervision is present to establish and review broad objectives relative to basic position duties or departmental responsibilities. Independent judgement is required to study previously established, often partially relevant guidelines; plan for various interrelated activities; and coordinate such activities within a work unit or while completing a project.
Requires regular contact to carry out programs and to explain specialized matters. Also, requires continuing contacts with officials at higher levels on matters requiring cooperation, explanation and persuasion, as well as with the public involving the enforcement of regulations, policies and procedures. Work requires occasional physical exertion and/or muscular strain. Work involves several disagreeable elements and/or exposure to job hazards where there is some possibility of injury.
Bachelor’s Degree required. Physical Science such as Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, and Resource Management. 2 to 3 years’ experience.
